Ares was born to Zeus and Hera, the only son born of their marriage, and grew to embody the brutal, chaotic side of war
rather than its strategy. Unlike Athena, who represented tactical warfare, Ares reveled in the raw violence and bloodlust of
battle itself, making him disliked by many of the other gods, including his own father.
Ares fought fiercely in the Gigantomachy against the Giants, charging into battle with characteristic recklessness and
overwhelming force. Despite his unpopularity among the gods, his sheer ferocity on the battlefield proved a valuable weapon
in securing the Olympians' victory over their monstrous foes.
Ares's most infamous exploits came through his entanglements with mortal wars, often favoring one side only to switch
allegiance and prolong bloodshed for its own sake. Despite frequent humiliations, including being wounded by the mortal hero
Diomedes, Ares remained an enduring symbol of war's raw, untamed nature.
